Q1: What is the purpose of the 4-position rotary switch on the front panel, and what is its normal operational setting?
The front-mounted rotary switch is utilized to select the system start and active working modes. Its normal operational position is 1 (AUTO), which configures the processor to initiate an automatic, self-managed start when mains power is turned on or when power recovers following a temporary plant voltage failure.
Q2: Why is the backup CPU module in my redundant pair failing to start up or sync with the active module?
A redundant backup module cannot initiate its initialization or enter "hot stand-by" mode unless its dedicated front PCMCIA slot contains the appropriate system program card. Double-check that a matching flash memory card is fully inserted into the backup processor's front interface. Additionally, verify that both units share exactly the same physical memory size (8MB).
Q3: My controller cleared its application program following a prolonged facility power outage. How can I protect against this?
The volatile dynamic RAM is backed up by an internal battery system for a minimum of 4 hours under single CPU operation, or 2 hours when running a redundant CPU configuration. To prevent memory loss during long power interruptions, you can install an optional flash memory backup card loaded with a Dump of Application Programs (DUAP) to enable automated program restoration upon power return, or attach an external auxiliary battery package like the SB511.
