Earlier IC693CPU374 Versions (Pre-Release 12.0): Built on a different underlying Ethernet hardware platform. These legacy versions lack the integrated switch, cannot execute SRTP Client operations, and cannot be updated or retrofitted to achieve the PLUS version feature set.
IC693CMM321 (Separate Ethernet Module): A standalone option where up to three distinct modules can be installed into the Series 90-30 backplane slots. Unlike the CPU374, it handles communication interface functions only and does not house the central PLC processing unit.
Installation & Troubleshooting FAQ
Q1: What must be done before physically inserting or removing the module from the baseplate?
A: You must ensure that the Series 90-30 PLC baseplate power is switched completely OFF. Inserting or removing a processor module while power is applied can damage the internal circuitry, cause the controller to stop abruptly, or lead to personal injury.
Q2: What do the LED indicators show if all three Ethernet lights blink slowly in unison?
A: When the EOK, LAN, and STAT lights blink slowly and simultaneously in an identical pattern, it indicates that the module is currently executing or awaiting a Software Load operation.
Q3: Why does the STAT LED turn off during regular operations?
A: The STAT LED remains constantly illuminated when the module is working correctly without active errors. If this indicator shuts off, it means an anomaly has occurred and an event message has been logged in the internal exception log, which must be reviewed via the Station Manager interface.
Q4: How can a duplicate IP address conflict be safely verified on the network?
A: Unplug the local network cable from both communication ports and issue a command line ping to that specific IP address from an external computer. If a successful ping reply returns while your unit is entirely disconnected, another machine is actively using that identical IP address.
Q5: What risk is associated with connecting both Ethernet ports directly to the same network device?
A: The dual integrated ports must never be wired together to the same hardware device either directly or through loops. Twisted-pair infrastructure networks require a distinct tree topology rather than a closed ring; a ring configuration triggers duplicate packet loops and causes immediate network overload.
